Ooredoo Maldives has announced that the final registration deadline for the "Ooredoo Mas Race," the largest fishing competition in the Maldives, is set for Saturday, July 8. This year, the event will take place in the four cities of Maldives.
Ooredoo said that the event held to mark its 18th anniversary will be the most exciting and biggest competition of this series. The competition will be held in Malé, Kulhudhuffushi, Addu and Fuvahmulah cities.
According to the criteria announced for the competition, participating teams should have 12 members including the captain and officials. Participants can purchase the required kit which costs MVR 150 each, through Ooredoo's Moolee platform. The kit includes a t-shirt and a “koari” - a hat used by Maldivian fishermen. Teams have to register online for the event.
The champion team of the competition will be awarded a prize money of MVR 25,000. The runners-up will receive a reward of MVR 10,000, and the team securing the third place will be received MVR 5,000.
A prize of MVR 1,000 will be awarded to the best fisherman, and another MVR 1,000 will be given to the best female fisher in the competition.

Each city can have a minimum of 12 teams and a maximum of 30 teams participating in the Ooredoo Mas Race. If more than 30 teams register from a single city, the selection of participating teams will be determined through a drawing of lots. Teams that are not selected will receive a full refund of their registration fees.
