Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, revealed that One and Only Reethi Rah was quarantined after a foreign employee exhibited symptoms of COVID-19.
The health agency confirmed that the individual has since been placed in isolation and that authorities were working to conduct tests as well as complete a contact trace.
According to local media outlet Mihaaru, the employee in question is believed to have developed symptoms after coming into contact with a child from a family that arrived at Reethi Rah after holidaying in Italy.
Including Reethi Rah, a total of five resorts in Maldives are currently under quarantine.
Movement into and out of Kuredu Resort and Spa was prohibited after two confirmed cases on Sunday. Sandies Bathala resort was quarantined on Sunday after two foreign staff tested positive for COVID-19. The temporary lockdown imposed on Vilamedhoo Island Resort and Spa as well as Kuramathi Island Resort was prompted by suspected cases which authorities are working to confirm.
Following two additional cases reported from Kuredu Resort on Monday, the total number of individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives have reached six.
Till date, no Maldivians have tested positive for COVID-19.
