Expat dies in Hulhumale construction accident

A Bangladeshi national was killed late Sunday after a slab of rock fell and hit him from the fifth floor of a construction site in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.

According to the police, the incident took place around 1950 hours, and left the 44-year old with a fatal head injury.

Aasandha Company, which operates Hulhumalé Hospital, revealed that the man passed away before he was brought to the hospital due to the severity of injuries to his cranium.

Police said that the deceased was a member of the construction team.

There have been a recent upsurge of construction accidents in both the capital city Male' and Hulhumale'.
