COVID-19 death toll rises to 85

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Monday announced an additional COVID-19 related fatality in Malduves.

As per the agency, the victim was a 75-year-old Maldivian female. She was admitted at IGMH ER and was declared dead at 0400hrs.

With this development, the total number of fatalities in relation to the virus has increased to 85 in Maldives.

Currently, the country is experiencing its worst waves of COVID to date and recorded the highest number of cases within 24 hours on Sunday with 1,091 being tested positive.

With the increase in COVID positives in Maldives, the death toll has also increased. The most recorded COVID deaths so far were on May 6, with five deaths.

Maldives recorded its first COVID related death on April 29, 2020.
