Well known Maldivian actor Ali Seezan appointed to the post of First Secretary at the Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka. This is the third highest ranking post in the office.
Actor Ali Seezan has been appointed as First Secretary of Maldives’ High Commission in Sri Lanka.
A government official confirmed on Thursday that Seezan has been appointed to this post.
First Secretary is the third highest ranking position of a high commission, following the position of High Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner.
Seezan, who has worked in the film industry in Maldives for decades, campaigned for Dr. Mohamed Muizzu last year, when he was running from president.
Then he announced for that he would take a break from acting for the first time since he started his career, and said he would step into politics.
Seezan then had announced he would run for the parliamentary seat of Thulusdhoo on a ruling coalition ticket. However, later he rescinded this decision.
He decided to not run in the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress’s (PNC) primary since the current legislator from Thulusdhoo, Ibrahim Naseer, has signed with PNC.
