Saruvash Adam, Chief Financial Budget Executive of Ministry of Finance, who has played a key role in drafting the state budget, has decided to resign from his position.
An official from the Finance Ministry has confirmed that Saruvash Adam forwarded his resignation letter last week. However, the ministry has not provided an official statement on the matter.
Assuming his post in 2016, Saruvash had implemented various changes to budget formulation during his tenure. This included recording pertinent information in the budget, such as highlighting significant economic and financial concerns each year.
In a special interview with Mihaaru News in 2021, Saruvash said that his biggest priority since assuming office was to abandon old practices and utilize state-of-the-art technology.
In addition to his position as Budget Executive at the Finance Ministry, Saruvash has previously held notable posts, including Chairman of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) and Board member of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
