President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed's representative, Vilufushi MP Hassan Afeef to address the parliamentary deadlock and explore solutions for the continuity of sittings, according to Presidential Spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has submitted a no-confidence motion against Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla, causing a stall in the parliament.

Speaker Nasheed has called for the withdrawal of one of the cases, alleging that it was raised at the behest of President Solih.

In response to concerns about the suspension of parliamentary sittings, Miuvaan said that the President wants to find a solution to ensure that the parliament can continue functioning without interruptions.

"The President, as the supreme head of state, recognizes that the parliament is one of the powers of the state. Therefore, he is committed to finding a solution to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the parliament," he said.

The President shared these concerns with MP Afeef, who recently assumed the duties of Parliament Speaker.

The parliamentary sittings have been affected due to the absence of a presiding chair, with Afeef having presided over the past three days.

The parliament sitting has not been scheduled for today due to the lack of a chair, raising questions whether any further sittings of parliament can be held.
