Kulhudhuffushi City has lost power once more shortly after an announcement by STELCO saying they had resolved the issue following a day-long blackout on Monday.

While the past month has seen recurring power outages in Kulhudhuffushi, citizens lost power on Monday morning and were forced to wait until electricity was restored later that night.

However, another island-wide power outage struck early on Tuesday around 9am.

Speaking to 'Mihaaru' news on Tuesday, STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy stated that the company's team of experts, who had travelled to Kulhudhuffushi yesterday, were working with FENAKA employees to restore power to the city as soon as possible.

"We will send our backup team to Kulhudhuffushi today, too. The STELCO team will remain in the city until the the problem of recurring power outages are resolved," said Fahmy.

STELCO's MD Fahmy also revealed that the power outages were the result of badly damaged engines that had fallen into disrepair due to lack of maintenance and service.

"That's the problem that we're dealing with right now," Fahumee said.

A generator had been delivered to Kulhudhuffushi City on March 27 to relieve issues causing recurring power outages on the island over several long weeks. However, blackouts had continued, prompting inconvenienced citizens to stage protests regarding the issue in recent days.
