Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Sunday revealed that samples taken from suspected cases in Fehendhoo, Baa Atol, and the three resorts OBLU SELECT at Sangeli, Bandos Maldives and Dreamland Maldives tested negative for COVID-19.
According to authorities, temporary monitoring measures imposed on the islands have been lifted.
Moreover, the agency is preparing to take samples from a suspected individual from Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa. The individual and a close contact of the suspect are now under home-isolation.
In addition to two positive cases from Anantara Dhigu Resort, five foreign nationals from Kuredu Island Resort and Spa, as well as two foreign citizens from Sandies Bathala and Kuramathi Maldives each tested positive for the virus.
So far no Maldivians have contracted the virus.
Maldives announced a state of public health emergency last Thursday, under which the government has implemented several measures.
This includes travel restrictions to and from resorts and banning guesthouses and hotels in the Greater Male' region from accepting additional tourist bookings for a period of 14 days.
Maldives also banned entry from Spain and parts of Germany and France, in addition to China, Italy, Iran, Bangladesh and two regions of South Korea.
