Student of the Haa Alif atoll academy, Mariyam Amna, who sat for her GCE O' level examination in October/November has surprised her entire school and herself with the accomplishment of ranking 1st place world-wide in the subject of English language.
The result that was beyond the belief of the principal of the Haa Alif Atoll academy situated in Hoarafushi, Hussein Naeem Ahmed was a student of the academy ranking 1st in the entire world in the subject of English language. This was because no student of the academy has placed number 1 in the world in the school’s history despite the academy’s competent record of good student results.
However, Mariyam Amna Waheed has transformed the school’s history with the result she had accomplished in her O’ level examinations. The principal was immensely proud of her exceptional achievement.
“A long time back, a student of this school had ranked 9th world-wide in the subject of Art. We were also not expecting that a result such as this may be achieved,” he expressed.
As shared by the principal, Maryam Amna who partook the October/November GCE Ordinary Level examination is a diligent student who perseveres to achieve good results in her studies.
This result had also immensely delighted Amna, who had made many efforts to achieve an A* in the subject of English language.
“I never hoped I could receive such a result. But when I wrote the paper, I was hoping to achieve an A*. This was because I had participated in O’ levels in ninth grade and scored an A* as well. But I had never expected to receive an accomplishment such as this.” Said Amna who has always shown a keen interest in the English subject.
Regardless of the prodigious result that stunned her school’s principal, teachers and Amna herself, she believes the results she achieved were not her most competent work.
“My results weren’t the most satisfactory. It could be because I could not study as hard as I should have,” said Amna.
Amna, who had also served as the school’s captain expressed that her biggest hope was to rank top 10 in the examinations. In review of her results upon possession, Amna recalls her acceptance that she was unable to extend enough efforts to all her examination subjects.
Amna shared the cause of this as the challenge she had faced in managing time ideally enough to gratify her standards. Nevertheless, Amna is content with her results.
She advised students who are working to accomplish good results in their O’ level papers to prepare for the examination far in advance by studying past papers and utilizing efficient time management.
