The government has decided to standardize the uniform design of nurses in all islands of Maldives.

Health Ministry Communication Director Aminath Shathufa said that the Nurses Association had proposed to change the design of uniforms to make it more convenient for nurses to work in.

Therefore, the ministry has decided to change the uniforms of nurses working in islands from white to light green and the uniforms of attendants to blue, she said.

It was previously decided to change the uniforms of nurses in all islands before the start of this month. However, the deadline was moved to later this year due to difficulties in obtaining fabric.

However, some health centers and hospitals have already started this initiative, including Noonu Atoll Landhoo Health Center and the Atoll Hospital in Baa Atoll Eydhafushi.

According to Shathufa, the nurses' and attendants' uniforms are modified using the uniform allowance received by nurses and attendants.

When health services were introduced in Maldives, nurses' uniforms were white. However, despite many changes in the uniform's design over the years, many hospitals and health centers in the islands still use the white uniform.
