The police have initiated a manhunt for Ibrahim Shafeeq, a 40-year-old individual from Haa Alif Atoll Dhidhdhoo, who could not be summoned before court in connection with a fraud case.
According to the police, Shafeeq was to be produced before Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for a case filed against him, but could not be summoned.
Consequently, the police are actively searching for Shafeeq under the court's directive.
The court has instructed the police to remand Shafeeq in judicial custody and produce him in court on Sunday.
The police have urged the public to report any information about the accused to the police's custodial number at 9991442.
Scams have become a significant issue in the Maldives, with a drastic increase in scam cases of over MVR 500,000 reported earlier this month, according to the police.
