R. Ungoofaaru Hospital now offers a wide range of scan services including MRI.
MRI services have been commenced at R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital last night.
After inaugurating the service at a ceremony held at the hospital, Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim assured that the hospital will be upgraded to tertiary level.
He said the MRI service is part of the work to upgrade the hospital to a tertiary level one.
In addition to MRI, platelet plasma treatment (PRP) services for people with joint pain were also launched yesterday.
While CT scan services are already available at the hospital, which serves more than 70,000 people a year, the MRI services, will further broaden the range of scan services available at the health facility.
The hospital also opened a "Well Woman" clinic along with a reproductive health centre late last year. In addition to that, laparoscopic surgery and other specialties were also launched last year.
