Revival Sports has filed a complaint against Badminton Association of Maldives (BAM) with the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) alleging that the association embezzled their star player Nibal Ahmed's scholarship funds.

According to documents shared with Mihaaru News, the Olympics Committee had deposited USD 35,000 to BAM's account as Nibal's Olympics scholarship funds.

However, the document shows that the funds were not entirely spent on Nibal, but on other expenses as well, including paying the national team's coach, Jang Ki-yoon. This expense amounts for a total of USD 7500 over the span of January 2023 to March 2024 at a rate of USD 500 monthly.

Revival included this in its complaint to the ACC as well.

It further reveals that the scholarship fund was also used to cover the accommodation and entree fees of all the national team players who competed in the Mauritius International Competition last year.

Revival said that the complaint was filed with the ACC because the misuse of these funds would negatively impact Nibal's career.

"Since Nibal is a player of this club, his mental health should be considered by this club. We filed the complaint as it is detrimental to his resolve to pursue his training abroad along with the alleged misappropriation of his scholarship money," Revival said.

This comes as BAM is already under investigation by the ACC for another money related issue, which saw former president of the association Moosa Nashid's shop and other businesses being raided.
