The Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Norikazu Suzuki, made a courtesy call to the Elections Commission on Saturday.
In a tweet, the electoral watchdog revealed that the parliamentary vice minister was accompanied by the Japanese delegation team, during the meeting held on the day of the 2019 Parliamentary Election.
EC did not share details of the meeting.
Voting commenced at 0800 hours across the country early Saturday. There are 264,589 Maldivians eligible to vote while total 386 candidates are contesting for the 87 constituencies.
