Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz, on Thursday, proposed the establishment of water and sewerage systems on the five islands within his constituency.
Riyaz announced on Twitter that he successfully located a foreign investor interested in undertaking the project and formally submitted the proposal to Minister of National Planning Mohamed Aslam.
The Jumhooree Party lawmaker stated that USD 12 million was allocated for the project.
The constituency of Kinbidhoo in Thaa Atoll consists of Hirilandhoo, Kandoodhoo, Omadhoo and Vandhoo in addition to the island of Kinbidhoo.
However, Riyaz is contesting for the constituency of Thimarafushi, also located within the same atoll, in the upcoming parliamentary election slated for April 6.
The former Commissioner of Police entered the political arena in the 2014 parliamentary elections.
