Maldives Immigration announced on Sunday, that employment approval for first-time expatriate workers will be granted within two days.

Previously, work permits were granted over a period of two weeks. However, Immigration stated that expatriates may receive the permit within the shortened duration provided all relevant documents are in order.

The authority further added that applicants would be informed on possibilities of delay caused by incomplete applications or documents, within the 48 hour period.

Per Immigration's press release, the change was brought about to ensure that the services provided are at a standard deemed acceptable to the people, and that eases the process for relevant parties.

Concluding the statement, Immigration urged all applicants to hand over the full set of required documents at the time of application for approval.
