Ministry of Finance, on Sunday, opened a public tender in search of a contractor to construct 100 housing units in Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll.
The finance ministry stated that the project headed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development required a design and build contract. It mentioned that the bidding process is open to both local and foreign companies.
Registration for the bidding process will be open until April 16. A fee of USD 100 and a USD 100,000 security deposit is necessary for the registration process. The bid will commence on April 17.
This is the third housing project among several to be initiated this year. The ministry is currently seeking to develop 200 housing units in Gan, Laamu Atoll, and 100 housing units in Thulhadhoo, Baa Atoll. A total of MVR 207 million was allocated for these projects.
Additionally, including ongoing six projects, MVR 321 million is set to be utilized for housing projects.
In the 2019 state budget, the administration allocated MVR 6.6 billion for the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP), which is to finance 315 new projects and 229 ongoing projects.
