Police arrest 13 in Male' City drug bust

The Police, on Monday, arrested 13 individuals from within the capital city of Male’ during a court-sanctioned drug operation conducted with canine unit 'Faaragema'.

After receiving reports of drug use, police searched a residence located in the district of Galolhu. The operation led to the discovery and confiscation of 31 rubber packets containing suspected narcotic substances.

The arrested individuals consisted of ten local men and two local women in addition to a 36-year-old Bangladeshi man. According to the police, all individuals were aged between 18 and 46 years.

The Drug Enforcement Unit is currently conducting further investigations into the case.

A total of 37 Maldivians, including a minor, were recently arrested by the police during a similar operation involving illicit drugs.
