Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), on Sunday, announced that bus and ferry trips would be provided for persons with disabilities for free.
In order to attain bus and ferry services free of charge, individuals with disabilities must be registered at the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) and present the identity card handed out by NSPA to MTCC officials present.
MTCC also stated that the company’s ferries and buses were designed to ensure that people with disabilities can conveniently embark and disembark from buses and ferries.
Moreover, the company revealed that the decision to cancel fares for disabled persons was made to empower such individuals as well as promoting social inclusion and providing additional opportunities.
