Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was admitted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on late Thursday.
This marks the third time the former President was admitted at hospital since his detention at Maafushi Prison. Notably, he was released from hospital on Thursday morning after being treated for a cardiac issue.
As per IGMH, Yameen was brought in and admitted after the doctor at Maafushi Prison advised to do so. However, the details of his treatment were not disclosed by the hospital.
He was first admitted less than 24 hours into being detained at prison.
The Criminal Court ordered to keep Yameen in detention until the conclusion of trails for the money laundering case against him following prosecutors claims that the former President attempted to bribe witnesses.
However, Yameen maintains his innocence and dismissed these claims stating that he was not even aware of the identities of the witnesses.
