Maldives Customs Service, on Tuesday, revealed that 2.07 kilograms of hashish oil were confiscated from a local man attempting to re-enter the country after travelling to India.
According to Customs, airport security searched the 24-year-old man's luggage on February 20 upon noting his suspicious behaviour. The search yielded a two-kilogram packet containing a dark brown substance.
Drug tests later confirmed the substance as hashish oil, a derivative of cannabis which many attempt to smuggle into the country.
The man in question was subsequently arrested by Maldives Police Service.
Police is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
