Ministry of Tourism revealed that the number of tourists arriving from Europe has increased by nine percent in January compared to the same period in 2018.
According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry, 83,528 tourists from the 151,552 who visited in January were from Europe.
Notably, 55 percent of the total arrivals in January are from Europe.
The second highest number of tourists came from the Asia Pacific, which is 36 percent. This is a 4.9 percent increase compared to 2018 January.
Furthermore, from America 7,239 tourists, Middle East 4,200 tourists and Africa 1,453 tourists arrived in Maldives.
In January, arrivals from India saw the greatest increase, with 37 percent.
Compared to January 2018, this year saw a six percent increase in arrivals with 151,552 tourists visiting Maldives in that time period.
