Maldives Police Service will activate internal mechanisms to review police brutality, announced Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed late Wednesday.
In a tweet, Hameed declared that the service will review every instance where a police officer used disproportionate force.

"Disproportionate use of force by police has been an issue often discussed in the public domain for many years now. We will take necessary steps to address this", he stated.
Police had earlier admitted that public trust in the institution has declined. In an effort to establish reliability, Police have launched new services such as a portal for public feedback.
