President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared on Sunday that national health insurance scheme Aasandha will be available for locals residing in Sri Lanka starting from April.
President Solih met with Maldivians residing in Lanka after arriving on an official trip to the country.
He stated that the government is working with relevant authorities of neighbouring countries to expand Aasandha services.
Furthermore, President Solih said that during his last visit to Lanka, Maldivian student had raised concerns over difficulties they face from their student loans.
He noted that the state had now addressed this and lessened the burden on the students by decreasing intrest in rataes tp three percent. Furthermore, the time period given to pay back the loans have been increased by 25 percent.
President Solih is visiting Sri Lanka to take part in the country's 71st Independence Day celebrations.
