The Human Right Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) filed a case at the Civil Court against Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for withholding information relevant to an ongoing investigation.
HRCM revealed in a tweet that they attended Civil Court for a hearing on Thursday. However, no details about the case have been revealed as of yet.
The lawsuit was filed against IGMH at the end of 2018.
In recent years, HRCM fell under public scrutiny for their silence on many matters regarding the loss of human rights. However, following the change of administration, HRCM is currently looking into various cases.
The rights watchdog is currently investigating the case of a woman who died in police custody last week. The investigation commenced shortly after the woman’s death.
