President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday declared that February 7, the first parliament sitting of the year, will be a government holiday.
With this development, the government is reverting to its usual practice, prior former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's decision to establish the first day of parliament as a working day during his regime.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will give his first presidential address in the opening session of the parliament.
The parliament went into recess on December 15, 2018, leaving several bills pending at the time of concluding the third term.
