Maldives Customs Services revealed on Tuesday that 32 kilograms of drugs were confiscated, from 83 of the operations conducted in 2018.
Statistics released by Customs show that the amount of drugs seized in 2018 was higher than in 2017, during which only 25 kilograms of drugs were seized.
At 17 kilograms, Cannabis was seized in the highest quantity in 2018, followed by heroin at 10 kilograms.
According to Custom's statistics for 2018, most of the drug busts were made were via post, amounting to 68 operations. The second highest number of drug busts were smuggling attempts at airports.
