President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Sunday, held an official meeting with the City Council of Fuvahmulah.

At the meeting held at the President's Office, the Fuvahmulah Councillors conveyed the development constraints faced by the island to President Solih.

According to the President's Office, the Councillors highlighted equipment shortages and the lack of individuals with the expertise needed to successfully carry out development projects.

The Councillors also discussed the current condition of the island's road network as well as the water and sewerage systems, with the President.

While President Solih assured that projects initiated under the 2019 State Budget would resolve many of these issues, he also recommended that the Fuvahmulah City Council collaborate with related bodies in order to eliminate barriers to further development.

This was the first time that President Solih met with Fuvahmulah City Council following his inauguration on November 17.
