An elderly in custody at the police detention facility in Dhoonidhoo island died early Tuesday.
Police said the 55 year old was rushed to the state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) around 3.30am.
the hospital said the man was already dead when he was brought in.
"He was a complicated patient," IGMH spokesperson Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Mihaaru.
The hospital however refused to comment on the cause of death while police also refused to reveal why the man was being held in detention.
