Parliamentary group leader of Progressive Party of Maldives’ (PPM) Ahmed Nihan announced on Sunday night that they would continually demonstrate their opposition against the ruling coalition every night from 20:30 onwards in front of the PPM office.
At the press conference held at the PPM’s head office on Sunday, Nihan proclaimed that the opposition will utilize the opportunity to express ‘freedom of speech’ and ‘the right of the people peaceably to assemble’.
“I had to talk about this because we also have significant experience of exercising ‘freedom of speech’ and ‘the right of assembly’ in the capital city, Male’”, said Nihan.
Speaking at the press conference, Nihan defended former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's corruption case that revealed MVR 100 million present in his bank account.
“Is it a problem to have MVR 100 million in a bank account?” questioned Nihan, with “show me the law” argument.
