Local media outlet Mihaaru News won the most number of awards at the Maldives Media Council (MMC)'s Journalism Awards for the year 2017.
Mihaaru bagged a total of five accolades at the award ceremony held on Tuesday at the Dharubaaruge convention centre.
Feature - Aiminath Shifleen
Legal - Muizzu Ibrahim
Sports - Azzam Alifulhu
Business - Abdulla Jameel
Social - Ahmed Saail Ali
This marks the third consecutive win for both Muizzu Ibrahim and Azzam Alifulhu.
Ahmed Saail Ali had previously won the coveted award for Most Promising Journalist in 2016.
Other award categories include Politics, Video Journalism and Photo Journalism.
MMC hosts the annual awards to celebrate journalists who adhere to the principles expected of media and display excellence in their respective fields.
Mihaaru attained the most awards for the year 2016 as well.
