President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday ratified the bill reversing the amendment to the Constitution which limits the age of presidential candidates.
During former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's regime, the amendment set the age limit between 30 to 65 years of age.
Prior to that, a presidential candidate needed to be 35 years of age.
The parliament approved the reversing amendment on November 28.
Then opposition parties had accused the government of attempting to prevent Jumhoorey part's leader Qasim Ibrahim from becoming a presidential candidate.
