Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday confirmed that an investigation regarding a case of sexual harassment filed against a senior official at the ministry is currently underway.
This statement follows rumours circulating on social media about a female member of staff who was subjected to sexual harassment by a senior official of the ministry.
Following the allegations, many social media users have been expressing anger and calling on the authorities to investigate this matter immediately.
As per the statement, the case has been raised to a special committee that investigates all the complaints on sexual harassment and similar abuse of power, within the ministry.
Additionally, the Foreign Ministry stated work is in progress to strengthen policies and prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
