Member of European Union (EU), Tomáš Zdechovský has stated that EU will not hesitate in taking appropriate measures against anyone undermining a peaceful transfer of power post the presidential elections.

Zdechovský, in a tweet, expressed concern over troubling actions by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom post his defeat in the election and alleged that President Yameen is asserting influence on the Supreme Court to undermine the results of the presidential election.

America had earlier warned of taking action against any party who does not co-operate during the transfer of power.

Hinnavaru MP and President-Elect Solih won the electoral race with a total of 134,616 votes, amounting to 58.4 percent of all voters. Incumbent President Yameen had a total of 96,132 votes, which is a percentage of 41.6 from all presidential election voters. This is the first time a presidential candidate was elected with such a sizeable lead.
