Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, on Sunday was publicly criticised by the large crowd of people gathered in front of the Supreme Court.

Dr. Muizzu was present, along with some government officials and supporters of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), outside the top court where a large number of people had gathered in order to observe the proceedings of the case submitted by the incumbent president to nullify the results of the presidential election held on September 23.

The crowd condemned Dr. Muizzu for allegedly allocating land plots unfairly from Phase two of reclaimed suburb Hulhumale. He was also verbally attacked for repeatedly portraying opposition supporters as multi-faith advocates.

Although the Housing Minister left the area under the protection of the police and some PPM supporters, some people from the crowd followed him and continued their criticisms.

As of yet no violence has occurred.
