Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) warned Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure that court orders would be used if they did not immediately cease issuing land plots.
The Housing Ministry announced on Monday that 400 land plots consisting of 1,000 square feet each, would be sold at a fixed rate of MVR 400,000 from the second phase of reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.
After calling on the ministry to stop issuing forms until the end of ongoing investigations to probe the involvement of unlawful practices and corruption, ACC had ordered the ministry to make certain amendments before resuming activity.
In a statement released by ACC, the ministry was ordered to announce the issuing of land in advance, and to provide a sufficient time period within which citizens would be allowed to submit applications.
Meanwhile, many citizens have been waiting in long queue lines, day and night, to submit their applications.
