Police made a partial recovery and three arrests in connection to a theft of MVR 111, 000 on Tuesday, stolen from an Egyptian doctor based in Hoarafushi, Haa Alifu Atoll.
The authorities have managed to recover MVR 63, 500 of the total amount.
Of the three men arrested in connection to the theft, one is reportedly a staff member employed at the local hospital.
The large sum, deducted by the doctor for the purpose of a holiday trip, was stolen from the cupboard in which it had been stored last Thursday.
According to sources from local news Mihaaru, the recovered money was found buried in the kitchen of one of the suspects arrested.
