Sri Lanka's Minister of Sports Faizer Mustapha visited Maldives as an envoy of President Maithripala Sirisena and met with some of the opposition leaders on Saturday
Mustapha met with President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Jumhooree Party's founder Qasim Ibrahim.
Although details of these meetings have not been disclosed by any of the parties, local media Mihaaru reported that Gayoom was invited to visit Sri Lanka and meet with President Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Gayoom had tweeted about the meeting, stating that it was a pleasure to receive Mustapha.
