President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requested that, as the transitional process has begun, the incumbent government not start any new projects.
The request was outlined in a letter sent to the Finance Minister Ahmed Munawar, by the Director General of Transition Ahmed Latheef on behalf of President-Elect Solih.
In the letter, President-Elect requested the government to not open the bidding process for new projects and to not take any more loans on behalf of the state.
Latheef also revealed that Solih had stated that the government should not undertake any action that may add to the state's financial responsibilities.
A special committee has been meeting with different ministries and institutions on behalf of the President-Elect as part of the ongoing transition process.
According to Solih's spokesperson leading these meetings, the committee has been receiving complete cooperation from all the ministries and institutions.
The opposition coalition's Presidential Candidate won the Presidential Election with 58.4 percent of votes and is set to take oath on November 17.
