The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday ordered Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure to halt the ongoing social housing project of 'Hiyaa'.

The graft watchdog ordered to halt development as it is currently probing a number of complaints submitted regarding the project.

Meanwhile, several citizens have already applied for flats under the Hiyaa project. It is estimated that over 25,000 individuals have submitted application forms at the housing ministry.

Regarding the Hiyaa project, Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu recently declared during the presidential campaign for the election held on September 23, that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom had decided to give flats to all of the applicants.
