A Bangladeshi expatriate worker died of injuries after falling into a pit excavated to establish a sewage system in Utheemu, Haa Alif Atoll, on Sunday.
Maldives Police Service’s spokesperson stated that the Bangladeshi man, Sadhun, was rushed to Utheemu's health centre after he fell into the open pit around 10:30 a.m.
Police further revealed that Sadhun, who was standing on the edge of the pit at the time, fell in after the ground collapsed under his feet.
The expatriate died in Dhidhdhoo Hospital, Haa Alifu, to which he was transferred in order to receive further treatment.after
