Maldives Immigration warns expatriate workers and those under tourist visa against taking part in local politics.

The statement released by Immigration states that expatriate workers and tourists taking part in local politics on any level are in violation of terms and conditions set within the visas issued to them.

Immigration further stated that those found guilty will be deported and that their visas would be terminated.

The statement urged all employers to not engage their employees in any political activities and requesting them to abide by the constitution of Maldives.

It was also noted that if employers are known to engage their employees in any political work, preventive measures would be taken against them.

In addition, the international observers and monitors coming into Maldives for the September 23 elections are strictly required to arrive under business visas.
