Police, on Monday, began a special operation on the security of the upcoming presidential election slated for September 23.
The special operation titled 'Operation Blue Wave 2018' was inaugurated at a Police Commanders meeting held at the police base, Iskandhar Koshi.
Speaking during the meeting, Acting Police Commissioner Abdulla Nawaz stated that the preparation for the upcoming elections will make changes to the standard operations of the police, and encouraged officers to remain determined although difficulties may be faced in carrying out certain operations.
Police will be actively working in all inhabited islands for security measures during the election period.
Attendees of the meeting to inaugurate the special operation include Assistant Commissioner of Police, Commanders of Police Departments via video call and Police Seniors.
