Kandima Maldives has announced their participation as the main sponsor for the contemporary art exhibition ‘Unveiling Visions’.

Hosted by the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC), 'Unveiling Visions' will be held at the National Art Gallery in Male between 3rd - 7th September 2018 and will feature works by 50 Maldivian artists.

The first ‘Unveiling Visions’ art exhibition was held in 2017.

The main categories of the featured art are allotted to six main categories; paintings, drawings, calligraphy art, 3D installations, digital installations and sculptures.

Kandima Maldives said that the top fifteen artists from 'Unveiling Visions' will be invited to participate in Kandima's annual 'KULA Art Festival' which will be held on December 28, 2018.

Expressing the importance of giving local artists a platform to market their works to a global audience, the resort affirmed that it would provide opportunities for these products to be sold at the resort's in-house 'KULA' art studio.

The 'KULA Art Festival' is the first of its kind, annual event to ever be hosted in any resort. These artists will showcase works through several different mediums.

Kandima Maldives also revealed that a donation of USD 1 from each room night is made towards the resort's non-profit 'KULA Art Fund', which seeks to promote and support the creation of further opportunities for local artists of the Maldives.

“We want to create extraordinary and innovative experiences for our guests which in turn will positively impact our local communities. This seems like the perfect match", said Mohamed Shafraz Hafiz, the Deputy Director of Digital Marketing & Social Media in Kandima Maldives.

"There are hundreds of talented artists that come from the local Maldivian islands, but their work is not seen or appreciated because they do not have a platform to showcase their talent across. Thus, it is our vision to change that.

The 'KULA' art initiative, which derives its name from the Maldivian world for color (Kula, n.) was launched by Kandima Maldives on October 5, 2017.
