President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, on Wednesday, inaugurated the international airport at Noonu Atoll Maafaru island.
During the ceremony to kick-off the Abu Dhabi funded airport, President Yameen unveiled the inaugural monument placed at the island’s airport and harbour.
Maafaru International Airport is set to feature a transit hotel, resort and can simultaneously accommodate a total of six jets.
President Yameen had earlier attributed the airport, valued at USD60 million, as a donation to the Maldives by the United Arab Emirates.
