Elections Commission has decided not to place ballot boxes in 13 previously predetermined locations.

The locations include the industrial centres of Kahdhoo in Laamu Atoll and Felivaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, Indian capital New Delhi, Singapore, and the nine resorts of:

- Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi

- Vakkaru Maldives

- Amillafushi and Coastline Residence

- Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives

- Cocoon Maldives

- Constance Halaveli Resort

- Amari Havodda Maldives

- Kanuhura

- Robinson Club

The EC explained that the selected locations did not meet the re-registry quota, which is minimum 100 voters registered to vote at resorts and industrial centres, and 200 voters at overseas locations.

The voters that registered at these 13 locations will receive the opportunity to re-register at another location, during a three-day period from coming Monday to Wednesday.

The Presidential Election of this year is scheduled to be held on September 23.
