President Abdulla Yameen's running mate for the upcoming election, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, departed Thursday night to Malaysia on a campaign trip.
Speaking to reporters prior to his departure, Shaheem shared that he will meet with Maldivians residing in Malaysia and supporters of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) during his four-day stay.
"I will share with them our efforts to re-elect President Yameen and our plans for the future," said Shaheem.
He further revealed that he will expand his campaign trips to the atolls upon his return.
While Dr. Shaheem is currently in Malaysia, the opposition coalition's presidential candidate, Ibrahim "Ibu" Mohamed Solih, had visited Singapore earlier this week to meet Maldivians residing there and in Malaysia, as part of the coalition's campaign activities.
