Opposition coalition's presidential candidate and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed for Singapore as part of his campaign trips for the upcoming Presidential Elections slated for September 23.
Speaking to the media, Hinnavaru MP Solih’s spokesperson Mariya Ahmed Didi revealed that the purpose of the campaign trip was to meet with leading campaign officials based in Malaysia and Singapore.
However, Mariya did not reveal the duration of MP Solih’s trip.
Whilst there are several Maldivians residing in Malaysia and Singapore, Elections Commission (EC) had revealed that ballot boxes will be placed in both countries.
After unofficially announcing his presidential candidacy, MP Solih began his campaign trip at Addu City and Fuvahmulah City before departing to Baa Atoll.
Solih’s running mate Kaashidhoo MP Mohamed Faisal of Jumhooree Party (JP) is also currently in Alif Dhaalu Atoll on a campaign trip.
