181 new lawyers sworn in

On Monday 181 individuals undertook their oaths as attorneys.

During the ceremony held at Dharubaaruge, the lawyers were sworn in by Supreme Court's Judge Abdullah Didi, with their credentials awarded by Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Didi, Attorney General Mohamed Anil and other top court Judges.

This is the second batch of lawyers to be sworn in the year, with over 170 lawyers taking oaths earlier this April. There are over 1,500 registered legal practitioners in the Maldives.

Under a ruling passed in 2015 by the Supreme Court, the court developed a special committee to regulate and grant law practicing rights. Chaired by the Chief Justice, the special bar on the committee includes the AG and other supreme court justices.
